Building a Global Hub for Blockchain

Based in Quincy, MA, QUBIC Labs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to building a global hub for blockchain and Web3 innovation. Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, we embraced the challenges of a rapidly changing world to develop a unique model for nurturing emerging technologies and empowering founders and startups. Our mission is fueled by diverse funding sources, including membership fees, sponsorships, and public-private partnerships, enabling us to support entrepreneurs from concept to commercialization.

We’ve cultivated strong relationships across public and private sectors, including partnerships with venture capital firms, corporations, and government entities, to ensure that innovators in blockchain and Web3 have the resources, mentorship, and capital needed to thrive. By driving economic growth and creating jobs in an emerging technology sector, QUBIC Labs positions Quincy and the region as a leader in the global blockchain ecosystem. Ian Cain

Co-Founder, Executive Chairman

Bio

Ian is the City Council President in Quincy, MA. With a background in real estate, energy, and technology, he holds a BA from Boston College and an MBA from Duke University. Ian serves on boards including PorchFest Quincy and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Milton, and the Innovation Council of the Shields Center for Innovation at BC High.

John O’Keeffe

Co-Founder, CEO

Bio

John has extensive experience in investments, corporate partnerships, and nonprofit management. Former Executive Director at Cristo Rey Boston and VP at Congress Wealth Management, he holds a Master’s in Entrepreneurship from the University of Limerick and a BA from University College Cork. He also serves on the board of Lawrence Catholic Academy.

Brandon Wolf

Chief Technology Officer

Bio

Brandon, a blockchain expert, has served as CTO for Algorand, Napster, and FIFA+Collect, and is a key contributor at Cardano. He founded and sold two tech companies and is involved in sustainable agriculture. Based in Central Florida, he specializes in enterprise technology.

Manuel Rinaldi

Program & Community Director

Bio

Manuel, a seasoned startup sherpa, has led over 45 startups at Starta Ventures and founded ventures in Italy and Silicon Valley. With a background in engineering, he mentors at accelerators like Founder Institute and Venture Mentoring Team.

Harry Lassige

Associate

Bio

Harry has been an entrepreneur since age 15, launching his first business as a teenager. Passionate about cryptocurrency trading and blockchain, he is dedicated to advancing innovative technologies in the digital economy.

Garett Curran

Bio

Garett is deeply passionate about blockchain technology, with a special interest in decentralized finance (DeFi). Outside of work, he enjoys building financial models, traveling, and cheering on the Boston Celtics.

Will Weddelton

Director

Bio

Will is an active Boston-area angel investor and venture capital participant, with extensive leadership experience across industries. As President of Public Partnerships LLC, he scaled the company into a market leader, serving over 100,000 consumers annually. A former U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer, Will holds dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from George Washington University. He is also a recreational triathlete and cycling advocate.

Meghan Spillane

Director

Bio

Meghan is a partner at Goodwin, co-chairing the Digital Currency & Blockchain Technology practice and advising on compliance, litigation, and regulatory matters in fintech, DeFi, NFTs, and digital assets. Recognized by The Legal 500 US for her expertise in fintech and crypto, she is known for managing high-stakes litigation in emerging technologies. A former Teach for America educator in the Bronx, Meghan holds a BA from Georgetown, an MST from Fordham, and a JD (magna cum laude) from Fordham Law.
